Shakespeare was an English poet and playwright, widely regarded as the greatest writer in the English language. The man certainly knew what he was talking about when it came to love!
Enjoy the Shakespeare love quotes below; in no particular order:
When I saw you I fell in love, and you smiled because you knew.
~By far, our favorite. So simple, yet so wonderful.~
Love looks not with the eyes, but with the mind; And therefore is winged Cupid painted blind.
If music be the food of love, play on.
Love sought is good, but given unsought, is better.
Journey's end in lovers meeting.
In thy face I see honor, truth and loyalty.
Love comforteth like sunshine after rain.
My heart is ever at your service.
Love is a smoke made with the fume of sighs.
The courses of true love never did run smooth.
Love looks not with the eyes, but with the mind;
And therefore is winged cupid painted blind.
One half of me is yours, the other half yours-
Mine own, I would say; but if mine, then yours,
And so all yours!
Love to faults is always blind,
Always is to joy inclined.
Lawless, winged, and unconfined,
And breaks all chains from every mind.
Love is a smoke raised with the fume of sighs,
Being purged, a fire sparkling in lovers' eyes,
Being vexed, a sea nourished with lovers' tears.
What is it else? A madness most discreet,
A choking gall and a preserving sweet.
No sooner met but they looked;
No sooner looked but they loved;
No sooner loved but they sighed;
No sooner signed but they asked one another the reason;
No sooner knew the reason but they sought the remedy;
And in these degrees have they made a pair of stairs to

About William Shakespeare
Shakespeare's date of birth is, sadly, unknown. We do know where he was born, however. And that is in Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwickshire, England.
He died on April 23, 1616 in Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwickshire, England. If you ever get the chance to visit, please do! It's a lovely place.
Although some (perhaps quite a bit, we'll never know) of his work has been lost, what we do have the privilege of reading consists of: 38 plays, 154 sonnets and two long narrative poems. There are also several other non-narrative poems. His plays have been translated into every major language, and are performed more often than any other playwright.
