Romantic Picnic Food Ideas

Romantic picnic food ideas. No matter where you plan to have a picnic, you can be sure that it will be relaxing and enjoyable!

Some of our favorite ideas can be found both here and on our Cold Picnic Food Recipes page.

The top two romantic picnic food ideas are chocolate and wine. Try not to skimp on either one. There's nothing like really, really good chocolate along with some fresh strawberries to make an afternoon or evening memorable!

  • Fresh Fruit
  • Herbal Iced Tea (see recipe below)
  • Roasted Rosemary Potatoes
  • Sandwiches, any kind


Herbal Iced Tea

  • 6 bags of your favourite herbal tea
  • 2 quarts cold water
  • 2 Tbsp honey or other sweetener of your choice (optional)
  • Lemon Slices

Place tea bags in a large pitcher and cover with cold water.

Add honey (or other sweetener, if using) and store in fridge for at least one hour.

Remove tea bags and transfer tea to a thermos or other suitable container to take with you on a picnic.

Place lemon slices in a reusable container and pack to use as a garnish.

Other Recipes:

Gorp

1 cup mixed nuts (peanuts, cashwes, almonds)1 cup M&M's1 cup diced dried fruit (apricots, apples, blueberries, cranberries)1/2 cup raisins1 cup sunflower kernels

In a Ziplock bag, shake all ingredients. Breakfast cereal, granola, and chocolate chunks may be added, or substituted, according to preference.

Watermelon Salad

  • 3 Tbsp lime juice
  • 2 Tbsp fresh cilantro
  • 2 tbsp fresh basil
  • 1/2 tsp fresh cumin
  • 1/4 tsp chili powder
  • 1/8 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 4 cups cubed watermelon

In a large bowl, mix together all ingredients except watermelon. Add watermelon and toss. Chill and serve.

Lemonade (makes 1 quart)

  • 1 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice (4-5 lemons)
  • 3/4 cup superfine sugar
  • 4 cups water
  • 1 lemon, sliced in rounds
  • 1/2 cucumber, sliced in rounds

In a large pitcher, combine lemon juice, sugar and water.

Stir well, until sugar dissolves.

Chill for at least an hour.

Add cucumber garnish, serve over ice.
