If it's possible to go on a date for under $10.00, then a date under $20.00 is certainly achievable! This is really just an extension of the under $10 list. Activities that are only slightly more expensive, still fun, and not out of reach for most people.
Attend a high school, college, or community play
Attend a local festival
Buy a puzzle (550 pieces can be done in a few hours) and put it together. Glue it to lock the pieces together when you are done, and you'll have a souvenir of your date
Create a three-course meal for your date. Salad is inexpensive, and desserts are not costly when they are homemade. Spend more on the entree, buy fresh and you'll have a date to remember
Go to a concert. Malls, churches and schools often sponsor them, check the entertainment section of your local paper to find one near you
Go to brunch
Go out for coffee, and get a slice of cake or biscotti to go with it
